23197Blue October04/15/201204/15/2012Since 1995, Blue October has been a refuge for its members and fans worldwide. Over the course of five albums, achieving platinum sales with singles like “Hate Me” and “Into The Ocean,” and non-stop touring has solidified the band’s presence in the music world. The jarringly frank “Hate Me,” is one of many reasons that this modern rock outfit Blue October evolved from an intensely beloved cult band to mainstream radio conquerors. - - Gillioz Theatre - 325 Park Central East - Springfield, MO

19988Enron04/19/201204/21/2012One of the most infamous scandals in financial history is transformed into a theatrical epic event. Mixing classical tragedy with savage comedy, the play follows a group of flawed men and women in a narrative of greed and loss that explores the tumultuous 1990s and casts new light on the financial turmoil in which the world now finds itself. Inspired by real-life events and using music, movement, projections, pop culture and pure theatricality, Enron captures the economic free-for-all that precipitated the collapse of the energy giant in the wake of the greatest white-collar crime in American history. "There is superb clarity in Prebble's story-telling as well as high drama...that brings the mysterious world of high finance to vivid, comprehensible life." - The Daily Telegraph. A Springfield area premiere. This production contains adult language and situations. - Vandivort Center Theatre

22480President’s Concert – HAYDN: THE CREATION05/06/201205/06/2012Franz Joseph Haydn’s oratorio The Creation is considered his greatest work. Depicting and celebrating the creation of the world as described in the biblical book of Genesis and in John Milton’s Paradise Lost, the oratorio has three parts: first, devoted to the elements; second, to animals and man; and third, to an earthly paradise. Composed for soloists – personifying Archangels in the first two parts, Adam and Eve in the third – a four-part mixed chorus and large classical orchestra, this performance of Haydn’s masterwork, directed by Dr. Guy Webb, will feature the Missouri State University Music Department’s combined choirs; soloists Carol Chapman (soprano), Sean Spyres, (tenor) and Chris Thompson (bass); and the MSU Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Robert Quebbeman.Juanita K.
