Eric
Jerardi Performs Sept. 18 with an Aggressive Rock-Blues Sound at
Nathan P. Murphy's
Eric Jerardi will
entertain fans with powerful, electrifying rock-blues Sept. 18 at
Nathan P. Murphy’s. The doors open at 8 p.m. for an all-ages show.
Tickets are on sale now for $10 and can be purchased by phone at
417-863-1909 or in person at Stick It In Your Ear
(300 W. Walnut
St.).
Blues rocker Eric Jerardi and his band--Jon Arnold on bass and Joe
Prescott on drums--recently teamed up with studio engineer Willie
Pevear to record their newest album release, five years after their
last recording. Pevear has worked with an array of artists such as
Lyle Lovett, the Neville Brothers, and Johnny Cash. Both Jerardi and
Pevear wanted to record a live performance in the studio as opposed
to the common advanced recording techniques. Released in the fall of
2007, Jerardi calls Restless his greatest achievement in recording,
saying, “It’s as greasy as a chicken wing, funky as a pitchfork and
sounds like damnation.”
Jerardi started his career at Ohio University where he won a battle
of the bands contest in 1989, his first official gig. In 1991, he
secured a spot on MTV as the Midwest’s Best Unsigned College Band
and now, almost 18 years later, Eric Jerardi still performs numerous
live shows across the United States. He has performed with countless
artists, including B.B. King, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney and Jim
Belushi, and has played South by Southwest in Austin, Texas along
with many other blues festivals and major concerts. Jerardi has been
featured on "The House of Blues Radio Hour" with Dan Aykroyd and
signed an artist endorsement deal with Fender musical instruments,
amps and strings.
Eric Jerardi says his playing and singing have never been better and
incorporates fun and witty songs into his repertoire as well as his
usual heartbreakers. Jerardi and his band perform with funk and
style, incorporating aggressive guitar sounds and featuring the
dominating keyboard talent of Chuck Leavell throughout their newest
album.
Eric Jerardi will take the stage at Nathan P. Murphy’s, 218 S.
Campbell Avenue, Sept. 18.

Springfield History Museum Participating in
'Smithsonian Magazine'
Museum Day Sept. 26
The History
Museum for Springfield-Greene County will participate in the fifth
annual Museum Day presented by “Smithsonian Magazine” Sept. 26.
A celebration of culture, learning and the dissemination of
knowledge, Smithsonian’s Museum Day reflects the spirit of the
magazine, and emulates the free-admission policy of the Smithsonian
Institution’s Washington, DC-based properties. Doors will be open
free of charge to Smithsonian magazine readers and
www.Smithsonian.com visitors at museums and cultural
institutions nationwide.
Last year, upwards of 200,000 people attended Museum Day, with all
50 states plus Puerto Rico represented by over 900 participating
museums, including 84 Smithsonian affiliate museums. This year, the
magazine expects to attract over 1,000 museums.
“Since we normally do not charge an admission we thought we would
highlight some of the programs and activities available through the
museum for groups and organizations. We are very proud to be a part
of this nationwide activity.” said Museum Executive Director John
Sellars.
Along with demonstrations of trunks and slide shows available, the
archives will be open for viewing of photos and documents with the
assistance of the staff and volunteers.
The History Museum features a permanent exhibit highlighting the
history of Springfield from prewritten history to the 1950s. It also
has changing exhibits on varying historical areas of interest,
utilizing the very extensive artifact collection.
The archive collection focuses on the Springfield and Greene County
areas. A large percentage of the archive is photographs. The archive
is open to the public for well-defined research by appointment in
