Switchfoot's roots can be traced - back to the beaches of San Diego in the mid-'90s, when they connected as surfers. They decided to form a band and chose the name Switchfoot, a surfing term. After putting themselves through months of sweaty garage band workouts, they hit the road. After just 20 gigs, they signed a deal and released Legend of Chin in 1997, then released three more albums before making their major label debut in 2003. Switchfoot has released four more studio albums since that time, including the latest Vice Verses, which include the singles "Dark Horses" and "Restless." -

Composed for soloists – personifying Archangels in the first two parts, Adam and Eve in the third – a four-part mixed chorus and large classical orchestra, this performance of Haydn’s masterwork, directed by Dr. Guy Webb, will feature the Missouri State University Music Department’s combined choirs; soloists Carol Chapman (soprano), Sean Spyres, (tenor) and Chris Thompson (bass); and the MSU Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Robert Quebbeman.

Location: Gillioz Theatre - 325 Park Central East - Springfield, Missouri 65806 -
Admission: From $25
Grace Potter & the Nocturnals' self-made 2005 debut album, Nothing but the Water revealed a musically sophisticated young band inspired by the music of the late '60s/early '70s. The follow-up, 2007's This Is Somewhere, confirmed that the band had no interest in following trends but was instead in pursuit of timeless expression as it forged its identity. On 2010's self-titled third album, GPN, toughened by a half decade of nonstop roadwork, flexed their rock 'n' roll muscles and confirmed that they were in it for the long haul.

By their seventh studio album, many bands are running out of creative steam and original ideas. But in the case of Death Cab for Cutie, nothing could be further from the truth. Codes and Keys is singular in the quartet's catalog when it comes to sonic exploration and lyrical ambition. If anything, the band has never sounded more excited to experiment with textures, words, sounds and even the process of recording itself.

There’s a hayride to the top of the hill to see our 40ft decorated Cedar Christmas tree! Kids and grownups alike will love taking a stroll through the Christmas Cave (a comfortable 60 degrees!) to drop off a letter to Santa in our very special mailbox- you see, our cave is so deep, the mailbox runs right to the North Pole! And all those letters will be waiting for jolly old St. Nick after he returns home from taking pictures with our guests! - - The Garden of Dreams was created by Bill “Doc” Roston and his wife Judy over the last 19 years, and stands as a tribute to what can happen when creative vision, hard work, passion, and resplendent nature come together. Springfield locals know of Doc's work from the Springfield Botanical Gardens in Close Memorial Park, where the "Dr. Bill Roston Native Butterfly House" has been named after him. - - The Garden is nestled at the center of 288 acres of pristine Ozark land, replete with springs, waterfalls, grotto, covered bridge, spring-fed lake, and reception pavilion. The Garden is also home to Honey Branch cave, a former show-cave with a near level grade making it perfect for casual exploration. The many rare and lovely plants in the gardens and grotto make The Garden of Dreams a splendid site for weddings, corporate or church retreats, family gatherings, parties, or any special occasion. -

Location: Gillioz Theatre - 325 Park Central East - Springfield, Missouri 65806 -

Since first emerging on the international stage in 2005, Matisyahu has established a reputation for following his muse-from the stripped-down roots reggae of the gold-certified Live at Stubb's to the trippy ministrations of Youth to the polished pop eclecticism of Light. Then, in 2010, he returned to the venerable Austin venue that introduced him for Live at Stubb's II, demonstrating that all those travels had somehow only strengthened his connection to his musical bedrock. It was a whirlwind half-decade journey, one that earned Matisyahu a place in pop culture at large. And it was only the beginning. -
