Fassnight and Meador Pools will be open from 5:30 – 8 p.m. on Saturdays only for the Splash N’ Sizzle weekends.

Library Foundation Presents “Walking Toward Americaâ€One-Woman Script July 14 and 15 at the Library CenterTickets are on sale at all library branches for two performances of “Walking Toward America,†a one-woman script written by former Springfield author Sandy Asher.The performances are at 7pm on July 14 and 2pm on July 15 in the Library Center auditorium, 4653 S. Campbell Ave. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students in grades 5-12. Proceeds will benefit the Library Foundation.Asher wrote the script based on the memoir of Springfieldian Ilga Vise, and from material Vise provided for the Library’s Ethnic Life Stories Project, at http://thelibrary.org/lochist/els/menu.cfm. Actress and former Springfieldian Annie Meek Montgomery portrays the young Ilga Vise during her flight with her family from their homeland in Latvia during World War II.
