Mild. Raw. Breezy. Tempestuous. Like the season itself, the Spring Dance Concert is always fresh and bursting with life and energy. The program features an eclectic mix of new works, conceived by our faculty and performed by our students. Dance styles range from primal to classical to contemporary to experimental. They often integrate original music and narration, innovative costumes and backdrops, dramatic lighting and audio-visual effects. Whether whimsical or profound, gentle or exuberant, the pieces reflect the beauty and power of dance. Come and celebrate this fusion of body, mind, emotion and spirit!

Loyalty, perseverance, survival of the fittest. The same themes that Jack London brings to "The Call of the Wild" personify the career of former Navy SEAL and survivalist Cade Courtley. He will talk about his career as a military survivalist who led highly classified, high-risk operations around the world with SEAL Team Two and SEAL Team One. As part of the Big Read, Courtley will talk at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside Drive. Courtley also starred in the Spike TV/Discovery International original series "Surviving Disaster" in 2010. After his talk, he will sell and sign his book "SEAL Survival Guide: A Navy SEAL's Secrets to Surviving Any Disaster."
