The Railroad Historical Museum

NAMI SWMO Miles for Miinds

Miles for Minds 2015 NAMI of SWMO Walk, a walk benefiting NAMI Southwest Missouri, an affiliate of NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness. The 5k WALK will be held on May 2, 2015 at Burrell Behavioral Health in Springfield Missouri. The goal of the WALK is to raise both money and awareness of the need for our community to support a recovery system for people with mental illness. All of the proceeds from the WALK will be used locally by NAMI in the following ways:• To provide support to persons with serious mental illnesses and to their families; • To educate families and individuals; • To advocate for nondiscriminatory and equitable policies at the federal, state, and local levels; • To advocate for improved opportunities for housing, rehabilitation and meaningful jobs; and • To support public education programs designed to help eliminate the pervasive stigma surrounding severe mental illness.

The most recent addition to the “Tuna Trilogy” Tuna Does Vegas reunites the lovable and eccentric characters from “Texas’s third smallest town.” The fun begins when oddball-conservative radio host Arles Struvie announces on air that he and his wife are heading to Vegas to renew their wedding vows. And the entire town decides to follow them to Sin City. Tuna Does Vegas parades an irresistible band of characters all portrayed by only two speed-actors depicting all the inhabitants of Tuna – men, women, Vegas showgirls, Elvis impersonators and more. Come along for the riotous ride and remember, this time what happens in Vegas…is hilarious.
