Celebrate
Independence Day in
Springfield, Missouri!
When it comes
to celebrating Independence Day, people in Springfield,
Missouri, get big bangs for their bucks – literally.
Two
celebrations – one presented by the Springfield-Greene County
Park Board and the other by James River Assembly of God –
provide day-long entertainment, high-quality musical
performances and spectacular fireworks shows at little or no
cost to participants.
Firefall
Along with
fireworks, local and regional bands, a children’s play area,
concessions, skydivers and hot air balloons, the 27th
annual Firefall and Concert in the Sky© June 28 will feature
"American Idol" finalist Josh Gracin, along with long-time
country artist Johnny Lee.
Gates open at
noon on the grounds of the Springfield-Branson National
Airport.

Gracin is
scheduled to take the stage at 6 p.m. and Lee is scheduled to
take the stage at 8 p.m.
The Concert in
the Sky© featuring the Springfield Symphony with choreographed
fireworks begins at 9:30 p.m., weather permitting.
Admission to
the event is free.
Parking
fees are $4 for motorcycles; $10 for cars/vans/pickups; and $20
for RVs. City Utilities will provide shuttles departing from the
Missouri Entertainment and Events Center (formerly Ozark Empire
Fairgrounds) every 15 minutes between 4 and 8 p.m., and will
return riders at the conclusion of the event. The CU Bus
Transportation fee is the regular bus fare, plus $2 collected as
riders board the bus.

I Love America! Celebration
 
Just a few days
after Firefall, the James River Assembly of God presents its
annual I Love America! Celebration beginning at 11 a.m. July 4
at Springfield Underground at U.S. 65 and Division Street.
This event will
feature Christian artists Phil Wickham, Hideaway and Starrfadu,
along with games, military displays, carnival rides,
concessions, air show, helicopter rides and much more.

Events begin at
noon, fireworks begin at 9 p.m. and the I Love America!
Celebration concludes with a Phil Wickham concert at 10:30 p.m.
Admission is
free.
