Springfield Hot Glass

We're sad that Springfield Hot Glass is closing its doors on December 24 but that means there is still time to find that perfect gift for someone, or yourself!

Springfield Hot Glass has become well-known for their unique blown glass Christmas ornaments and the owners say they'll be creating new items through Christmas Eve. Get them while you can! They do plan to reopen for two weeks in January to sell any remaining merchandise, retail fixtures, etc.

Askinosie Chocolate

Askinosie Chocolate.

Landing in USA TODAY as one of the top ten artisan chocolate establishments in the U.S. is just one of the accolades Askinosie Chocolate has under its belt—and it’s no surprise. One of historic Commercial Street’s most successful businesses, Askinosie Chocolate is in the perfect place to pick up specialty chocolates anytime of the year—but especially during the holiday season.

"We love being a destination for direct trade chocolate gifts for the holidays,” says Lawren Askinosie, chief marketing officer for Askinosie Chocolate. “In our factory storefront — from which you can see all of our chocolate being made plus pictures of the farmers who grow the cocoa beans — we have a variety of chocolate gifts in every price point. We offer samples of all of our chocolates and our knowledgeable staff can help guide folks to the perfect gift, whether it's a dark, white or milk chocolate bar, a collection of drinking chocolate, our beloved Peppermint Bark and more."

Askinosie prides itself by offering “Bean to Bar Craft Chocolate Made in the Ozark Mountains.” Founder and owner, Shawn Askinosie, set his sights on producing the perfect chocolate in 2005 and now offers chocolate products sourced from farmers in the Philippines, Honduras, Tanzania and Ecuador.

The Rusty Moose

Lodge-themed welcome mats at The Rusty Moose.

“Bringing the beauty of nature into your home” is the theme Kristy and Craig Sloan settled with when they opened The Rusty Moose in west Springfield 10 years ago. A decade later, they’ve become well-known in the Ozarks for offering an extensive selection of lodge and western decor for the home.

“Here in the Ozarks, we have all these beautiful outdoor settings that can also be enjoyed indoors, says Kristy Sloan. “That’s what we offer and we specialize in rustic decor for all areas of the house — from sink stoppers for the kitchen to rustic furniture that’s perfect for a lodge-themed room in the home.”

Kristy says there’s a variety of unique items she offers that will make perfect Christmas gifts including custom mugs, pottery, holiday floral arrangements, collectible figurines, photo frames and candles.

“One of our most popular items during the holidays are our Fireside Candles, a specialty line of candles manufactured by Ozarks-based Carousel Candles,” she says. “They’re different because of their wooden wicks and unique fragrances including leather and holiday scents.”

Relics Antique Mall & Events Center

A booth at Relics Antique Mall featuring Christmas items.

Having the distinction of being the largest antique mall in the state of Missouri, Relics Antique Mall makes for a shopping experience like no other.

“We have over 500 small business people, each with their own little store, right here within Relics,” says
owner Beverly Robb. “Together, they offer a huge variety of merchandise from dollar items up to investment quality paintings. There’s just about anything anyone could want within Relics and it changes hourly.”

Robb says there is plenty of vintage Christmas decor within the 90,000 square feet of collectibles and antiques and there are two upcoming holiday events that shoppers won’t want to miss:

“We really do have something for everyone, from from wooden carved duck decoys to sterling silver charm bracelets and everything in between,” adds Robb.
