“It took a lot of labor love from July until now to get it to this point," said Kala Russell, with Missouri Spirits. “It’s Springfield’s very first actual pop-up concept.”
The Christmas pop-up bar launched in New York City in 2014 and was instantly popular with the public. Now, there are more than 50 locations around the world that have transformed their business into the Miracle concept.

“You take an already existing space, and business, and you completely transform it into something else including the name, marketing — everything,” said Russell.
Transform indeed. The spacious building on Walnut Street that houses Missouri Spirits is now a Christmas wonderland complete with themed sitting areas, dozens of Christmas trees and lights galore. If you don’t get into the Christmas spirit as soon as you walk in the door, you’ll probably make better company with the Grinch this year.

Besides the extravagantly themed lounges and bar (the ‘A Christmas Story’ area is perfection), there are also specialty cocktails and menu items that help make the experience.
“The drinks on the menu are very unique to the Miracle concept,” said Russell. “There’s a Purple Yam – Coconut Orgeat, there’s a Budweiser Marshmallow Fluff Syrup.” These unique ingredients are used to make holiday cocktails like the You’ll Shoot Your Rye Out and more. Missouri Spirits, Springfield’s first spirits distillery, has set itself apart from other Miracle locations as it makes most of the liquors used in the cocktails in house.

Food items include traditional party platters, meatballs, little smokies, Christmas cookies and special Christmas themed menu items like Cousin Eddie’s Trash Tin Nachos.
Miracle on Walnut Street is open Tuesday-Friday, 4 p.m.-1:30 a.m.; Saturdays, noon-1:30 a.m. and Sundays, noon-9 p.m. through December 30.
