Springfield has been blessed recently with some nice feature stories in media across the country.

The city was included in a couple stories about Route 66 published by “The Washington Post” and picked up by several media outlets across the country. To view the “Washington Post” stories, click here and click here.

Fantastic Caverns got some love from “Chicago Tribune” in a story about caves in the Midwest. That story also was picked up by other media outlets. Along with that, Fantastic Caverns is part of a “USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Award” as a favorite dog-friendly tour or activity. You can vote for Fantastic Caverns until Oct. 10.

The Oklahoma edition of “Home & Away,” a AAA publication, has a story about Springfield in its most recent edition.

Those stories and many others are the result of ongoing media relations efforts of the CVB staff who not only respond to media requests but actively pitch stories and host press tours in an effort to garner positive publicity for the city as a travel destination.

Staff also represent the city at media trade shows and conventions, including the Missouri Press Association convention Sept. 29-Oct. 1 in Branson. Springfield will host the convention in 2017.
