Biking
Because of its expanding system of greenway trails, multi-use sidepaths and on-street bicycle route network, Springfield was named a Bronze Level Bicycle-Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.
Bikers can stay on the beaten path or take a walk on the wild side with trails for all skill levels and abilities in southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas.
The Ozark Greenways Trails Network offers a diversity of options with 140 miles of trails ranging from natural surfaces to paved. Most are easy rides, perfect for families looking to pedal away the afternoon and serious riders who want to test their distance boundaries. The paved tour road at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield is a good option for a hilly ride
More experienced riders who don’t mind dealing with a few cars can explore the city via The LINK, a designated route along city streets that have low traffic volume and slow speed. The LINK connects various points in the city, including the greenway trails, various neighborhoods, parks, business districts and others.
Those who love the challenge of BMX and mountain bike riding need to head just outside the city for the Sac River Mountain Bike Trail, Two Rivers Bike Park and other locations where you’ll test your skills.
No matter which you choose, you’ll enjoy the biking options available in the area. Check out our trails page for more information on the different trails in the Springfield area.
