Ice Cream & Desserts

If you like sweet treats, you’re going to love Springfield! You’ll find something delectable around every corner whether it's a fancy dessert to top off a meal or something picked up at a drive-through to eat with a plastic spoon.

Among the latter is Andy’s Frozen Custard, a Springfield staple when it comes to enjoying a creamy dessert made with fresh ingredients; all custard is served within an hour after it’s made. Several of the signature treats, such as the Ozark Turtle and James Brown Funky Jackhammer, are available year-round while each season brings flavors and combinations matched to the time of year.

Another local favorite is Pineapple Whip, a non-dairy, juice-based soft serve. Options include mango-peach, strawberry-kiwi, grape, orange and banana-pomegranate. The stores are open throughout the summer and on select dates in fall and winter.

While Andy’s and Pineapple Whip are desserts enjoyed at a picnic table, you’ll find plenty of other options throughout the city.

The three-layer strawberry cake is the number one seller at Gilmore’s. European Cafe is known for desserts that are a feast for the eyes and palate. Aviary Cafe serves sweet and savory varieties of mouthwatering crepes. Progress specializes in memorable and innovative food, including the Milk and Honey, a local honey semifreddo with milk jam and almond streusel.

The list of desserts in Springfield is endless and those are just a few examples. We suggest you try as many as you can while you’re in the city.
