The Convention & Visitors Bureau is working with the Missouri Division of Tourism to host a familiarization tour for 55 group tour planners and journalists as part of the Travel South Domestic Showcase that will be in Branson in March.

Sales department staff also are representing Springfield at a variety of trade shows and events designed to connect meeting planners with destination marketing organization representatives. Recent and upcoming events are:

  • Religious Conference Management Association
  • Missouri Natural Resources
  • National Tour Association Convention
  • Destination Showcase
  • National Association of Sports Commissions Symposium

The department also has a Sales Awareness Committee meeting for hotel sales staff scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 24 at the CVB offices. Please RSVP to Dana Maugans at 417-881-5300, ext. 111, or dmaugans@springfieldmo.org if you plan to attend.

Staff in the marketing department have continuing education programs coming up, including Destination Marketing Association International’s Destination Showcase and the PR News’ Digital Summit & Crisis Management Boot Camp.

The CVB is sending staff to Capitol Days for Tourism next week in Jefferson City. The event is an opportunity to network with legislators and inform them about issues important to the state’s travel and tourism industry.

Staff in all departments also will have a training session for CPR and operation of an AED defibrillator.
