The Missouri House of Representatives has approved a new state budget of more than $26.1 billion. The budget includes $21.4 million for the Division of Tourism, $1.125 million higher than the division budget recommended by Gov. Jay Nixon.
The tourism budget increase was successfully pushed through by Rep. Lincoln Hough of Springfield during the House budget writing process.
The division budget adopted by the House is $1.135 million dollars below the budget approved for the agency last year by the legislature.
The Senate Appropriations Committee is expected to begin review of the House-approved state budget this week.
