CVB staff and local hospitality industry representatives are planning to be in Jefferson City Jan. 27 for MACVB Regional Tourism Days to encourage legislators to pass HB1663, a law that would allow Springfield voters to decide the amount of tax charged for hotel rooms in the city.
If you would like to participate, sign up here. The event is free to attend but registration is required.
Your support is needed as the industry strives to put Springfield on equal footing with other Missouri destinations in which "enabling" legislation has been passed that allows local voters, rather than state law, to determine if a lodging tax increase can be on a ballot. That doesn't mean an increase is imminent; it just means Springfield voters would be given the right to decide.

Staff also plan to participate in the Salute to Missouri Legislators and meet with legislators on Jan. 26.
