On Monday, U.S. Senate leadership released their bill, the HEALS Act, for the next round of coronavirus relief, and it included language that would expand eligibility to the Paycheck Protection Program for destination marketing organizations, such as the Convention & Visitors Bureau.
While we are thrilled about the inclusion of DMOs in the PPP in this bill, our work is not over until this legislation passes the Senate and the House and is signed by the president. We anticipate all of this will happen within the next two weeks, so we must act now.
There are a couple of actions you can take, including thanking Senate leadership for their inclusion of DMOs in the PPP and encouraging the rest of the Senate to support these provisions in the final legislative text. You can do this in just two minutes using a form created by the U.S. Travel Assoc.
ACT NOW
By answering a few brief prompts, USTA will automatically send your appreciation to Senate leadership and your encouragement to your senators to keep provisions that extend eligibility to the PPP to all DMOs.
Thank you for taking action today! Your support is making a difference for the travel industry. As negotiations over this legislation are just beginning, we must keep momentum going and will likely be back in touch soon to ask you to act on additional legislative priorities as we work to secure our industry as much relief, protection and stimulus as possible.
