Funding for the organization that promotes the United States as a travel destination is on the chopping block in President Donald Trump’s federal budget.
That’s bad news for the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau’s international marketing programs, said Tracy Kimberlin, president/CEO of the CVB.
Eliminating Brand USA would eliminate all of Springfield’s marketing efforts to encourage international travel to the city. Springfield has a presence on the VisitTheUSA website maintained by Brand USA and participates in other marketing programs through the organization.
“USA Today” reported that travel industry representatives and lawmakers are already voicing opposition.
