Springfield’s Ramada Oasis Hotel recently moved up within the Wyndham Worldwide Franchise.  On March 1, 2013, the locally owned hotel became the Ramada Plaza Hotel & Oasis Convention Center.   “This is a huge compliment to our hotel and ownership” said Missy Handyside, General Manager.  “Becoming a Ramada Plaza Hotel will immediately tell our guests that we offer more amenities than what they may expect at a Ramada Inn or any other midscale hotel”.

The Ramada Plaza Hotel & Oasis Convention Center expanded and remodeled their convention center last year and attached it to the hotel and their restaurant Fire & Ice.

“This has been a huge success for us.  We have received so many positive comments about the expansion and the tropical inspired décor of the new meeting space.” Handyside said.

In addition, the Ramada Plaza just completed a complete renovation of the hotel’s suites which according to Handyside are now suites that you would generally see at very upscale hotels.  The suites include amenities such as chromo therapy tubs, mirror with built in LCD TV’s, fireplaces, spiral staircases, 55” Smart TV’s, IPOD Docking Stations, Keurig Coffee Makers and much more.

Handyside said the designer, Brenda VanEps of Studio V has an amazing talent for bringing elegance and the tropics together.    She also stated that the hotel’s owner, Robert Low has committed to more improvements.  “Our guests enjoy and appreciate seeing new projects underway.  It makes them realize that we are 100% committed to ensuring they have a comfortable and enjoyable stay” she said.

The Ramada Oasis received a Best of the Best Award from Ramada Worldwide in 2011 & 2012 and won Sales Team of Year for Wyndham Worldwide earlier this year.  Handyside believes that these awards, the hotel’s uniqueness and the commitment to guest service were all deciding factors for the Ramada team when offering a move to a plaza.

The Ramada Plaza is affiliated with Wyndham Worldwide which represents over 7,000 hotels worldwide.  There are currently over 800 Ramada Hotels in the world with approximately 15% of them being Plaza Hotels.   Ramada Plaza is considered an upper scale hotel due to offering guests specific amenities, a full service restaurant and meeting space.
