Ashton May has joined the Springfield Sports Commission as the new Assistant Director. She replaces Whitney White who left Springfield in March for a job in her hometown of Kansas City.
May’s responsibilities include membership sales, communications and other duties. A big part of the job is organizing the 1 Awards, an annual event honoring the best high school athletes in southwest Missouri.
May is from Oran in Southeast Missouri and comes from a sports loving family. She moved to Springfield to attend Missouri State University in 2008 and completed a bachelor’s degree in public relations and entertainment management in 2012. She then went to Los Angeles and worked with a social media company, then to Nashville where she worked in music public relations for a small public relations firm and in sales and promotion for FOX 17, the Nashville FOX television affiliate.
