A report from trivago.com, the world’s largest online hotel search site, lists Springfield and Branson among “America’s Best Value Towns & Cities.”
Branson ranks No. 1 as the best value city in the country and Springfield made the list at lucky No. 7.
The rankings were done using trivago’s Best Value Index, calculated using the annual average price of a standard double room and the city’s average hotel rating by trivago.com users. Cities with at least 50 hotels and a minimum average of 150 user ratings were considered in the index.
“It’s an honor to have Springfield recognized as one of America’s Best Value Cities by trivago.com,” said Tracy Kimberlin, president/CEO of the Convention & Visitors Bureau. “It’s an even bigger honor to share the accolade with Branson because southwest Missouri represents two of the top 10 spots in the entire U.S.”
About 3 million overnight visitors come to Springfield annually. Springfield is the third-largest city in Missouri and 35 miles from Branson, one of the nation’s top tourist destinations.
