The Convention & Visitors bureau is in high gear for launching its 2015 advertising campaign targeting leisure travelers.
The CVB and its advertising agency, MMGY Global, recently conducted a photo and video shoot for a promotion of the city that will be on television, radio and digital media beginning April 20 along with the launch of a revamped website at www.SpringfieldMO.org. The images and video from Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Farmers Park, downtown Springfield and other locations around the city are being incorporated into a campaign that will echo the bureau’s new communications strategy and logo launched earlier this year.
While promoting the city to leisure travelers is an annual practice, this year the campaign will have a whole new look and feel. The endeavor also boasts another new attribute: it’s almost entirely Springfield sourced with local photographers, videographers, talent and support staff for the promotions.
They include photographer Nathan Stracke (www.nathanstracke.co), videographer Andrew Edwards (www.andrew-edwards.com) and hair and makeup stylist Melissa Britt, manager of W3 salon in Springfield, along with several local models and actors.
Springfield resident Beth Wray was a among the models and actors who participated in the campaign. Though she has video experience, she said this was the most exciting project in which she played a role.
“I was the most excited about this than I have any others because I’m from Springfield,” Wray said.
The ad she will be featured in was not scripted and that wasn’t a problem for Wray.
“The director said to just start talking to convince people to visit,” she said. “I thought ‘Oh my goodness. I can do that in a heartbeat.’ because my heart was in it.”
Although residents of Springfield may not see the promotions that will air in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas, they can be assured the ads are an accurate depiction of the people who live here and the city’s attributes along with the wellspring of talent the city possesses.
