Because of the pandemic, 2020 was a disaster for the meetings and conventions industry nationwide and Springfield was no exception. In 2020, more than 80 groups that would have spent an estimated $30.5 million in Springfield canceled due to health concerns, and that doesn't include groups that worked directly with hotels and meeting venues instead of using Convention & Visitors Bureau services.
That's the bad news. The good news is the CVB has 53 groups scheduled to be in the city in 2021. While it's possible some of them will cancel, we're hoping for a better year.
We encourage businesses to show attendees some Ozarks' hospitality with welcome messages on marquees and in other ways that will make them want to come back.
