If you’ve ever wondered who is behind the CVB’s website and social media efforts, Sean Dixon is the man.
Sean, the bureau’s interactive media manager, is responsible for planning and implementing interactive media marketing efforts promoting Springfield as a travel destination. He oversees one staff member, Walter Watts, interactive content coordinator.
Though a relative newcomer to the travel and tourism industry, Sean has established himself as a social media expert, especially when it comes to promoting Springfield as a destination. Not only has he enhanced the bureau’s social media programs and improved its website, Sean was named a “30 Under 30” by Destination Marketing Association International in 2012, only two years after joining the CVB.
Sean has a bachelor’s degree in mass media and master’s degree in communication from Missouri State University.
While all that makes Sean sound like a serious guy, if you need a laugh, Sean’s the person who can make it happen with silly jokes and office antics.
In his free time, Sean enjoys running, playing video and computer games and sitting by the pool. He also likes beer.
Most important, however, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Karina, and their brand new baby boy, Eliot, along with their cat, Buttercup.
