The state’s hospitality industry is encouraged to participate in the annual “Capitol Days for Tourism” event Feb. 22-23 at the Capitol Building in Jefferson City.

The event organized by the Missouri Travel Council is an opportunity to inform state legislators about the importance of tourism funding and express appreciation for their support. There has never been a greater need to let legislators know the critical role the tourism industry plays in the state’s overall economy. As in previous years, a number of legislative issues will directly affect the tourism industry.

An educational workshop, Legislatively Speaking, is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Feb. 22. It will provide an overview of the current state of Missouri's economy; the importance of strong funding for tourism; and a comprehensive discussion of legislative priorities, talking points and other pointers to make your visit more effective. Cost for the workshop is $25 per person and includes a box lunch.

The Pancake Breakfast is planned for 7:30 a.m. Feb. 23 on the third floor of the Capitol Rotunda. Cost for the Pancake Breakfast is $20 per person.

Capitol Days for Tourism is jointly sponsored by the Missouri Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus, Missouri Association of Fairs & Festivals, Missouri Hotel & Lodging Association and Missouri Travel Council.
