Sean Dixon, interactive media manager at the Springfield, Mo., Convention & Visitors Bureau, was selected as one of 30 Under 30 presented by Destination Marketing Association International.

Dixon and other award recipients from around the world will receive complimentary convention registration and three nights’ accommodations for DMAI’s Annual Convention July 16-18 in Seattle.

Dixon has worked at the Convention & Visitors Bureau since 2010. His responsibilities include maintaining the bureau’s website, managing social media programs and other aspects of the bureau’s electronic and digital communications and marketing efforts. Dixon, a graduate of Rolla High School, holds a bachelors’ degree in mass media and master’s in communications from Missouri State University.

Dixon is the second Springfield CVB staff member to receive this honor in a program introduced by DMAI in 2011. Laura Whisler, CVB marketing director, received the honor in its inaugural year.

The Springfield CVB is one of only a few CVBs in the world with three staff members who have earned DMAI’s Certified Destination Management Executive certification. The bureau also is an accredited CVB through DMAI’s Destination Marketing Accreditation Program. The program evaluates quality and performance in destination marketing and recognizes destination marketing organizations that meet or exceed industry standards.
