Springfield-Branson National Airport will present a state of the airport program at 3:30 p.m. May 25 at the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
Among the highlights:
- Officials indicate there's a good chance the airport will break the 1 million passenger mark this year, an impressive milestone, but also evidence of our region's vibrant economy.
- A new flight school, in partnership with Ozarks Technical Community College, is taking off and will help address a growing national pilot shortage in the long run.
- In the past 18 months, the airport has added three new non-stop destinations - Charlotte, Destin/Fort Walton Beach and Houston - and next week officials will provide an update on potential new air service changes.
