Chabom Teas + Spices on historic C-Street in Springfield is one of the most unique local shops in the city. The owners of Cafe Cusco — just down the street from Chabom — wanted to share the spices they use in their food with others and the idea for the eclectic shop was born.

“Chabom is locally owned and boasts the largest selection of loose leaf teas in Springfield,” said Rebekah Batson, the assistant manager at Chabom. “We also have an expansive selection of spices, including many that are hard to find. We’re also very proud of our collection of gifts and goods that are locally made, which allows us to support other locally owned businesses.”

Besides the delicious loose leaf teas (iced or hot), they also carry baked goods, cards, necklaces, pottery, roasted coffee beans, candles and clothing. But, the teas are the star of Chabom.

“Being a tea lover, it’s kind of its own world,” said Batson. “Tea is its own world. It’s so, so vast and there is a huge tea community here.”

Batson says she loves owing a business in Springfield, and particularly on C-Street.

“Commercial Street is amazing,” she added. “Its got so much character and there is so much history here and the rest of Springfield really started seeing that. So, there's amazing business here who have been here for awhile and even very month it just feels like it’s getting better and better.”
