Springfield will be host to the 2013 American Collegiate Hockey Association Division III Men’s Hockey National Championships March 12-16, 2013. The site announcement was made after bid presentations at the ACHA annual meetings in May of 2011.
Mediacom Ice Park and the Missouri State Bears Ice Hockey Club will be the host entities for the championships. These entities partnered with the Springfield Sports Commission in the bid submission and presentation materials for the rights to host the 2013 National Championship.
The Division III Men’s National Championships feature 16 teams from Universities and colleges from across the nation. The teams compete in pool play with one game per day Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The top four teams compete on Friday with the winners advancing to Saturday for the National Championship. Wednesday evening will also feature a skills competition will be held at Mediacom Ice Park. Both sheets of ice will be utilized at Mediacom Ice Park for the event.
