A marketing campaign designed to increase interest in Springfield as a destination for conventions and other group events is underway.

An e-postcard was sent to nearly 26,000 meeting planners this fall and will be followed by three additional e-postcards in the coming months. A four-page newsletter will be sent to 2,500 planners.

Three meeting planners were filmed giving testimonials about positive experiences hosting meetings in Springfield. The videos will be loaded into a digital player and mailed to more than 200 targeted planners.

The $30,000 integrated campaign is made possible by a partnership of the CVB, University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center, DoubleTree Hotel Springfield and the Ramada Plaza Hotel & Oasis Convention Center.

The bureau also is working with its ad agency, MMGY Global, on its annual spring campaign targeting leisure travelers. The more than $1 million campaign will include television, radio, print and digital ad placements.
