The annual US Olympic Sports Link is an opportunity for the national governing bodies and those with Olympic interests to meet. This year the US Olympic SportsLink and Assembly was in Colorado Springs. Lance Kettering, executive director of the Sports Commission attended, representing Springfield.  The event features opportunities to meet with representatives from the National Governing bodies in various Olympic Sports.

Some people are not aware but Springfield is active in the Olympic Movement. Springfield has a Community Olympic Development Program run by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board. The Springfield CODP includes the sports of archery, tennis, volleyball, hockey and weightlifting. Attending this event is another way to enhance, support and improve the efforts of our community within the Olympic movement.

Another highlight of the event was seeing the United States Olympic training grounds. The facilities and opportunities US athletes have are amazing. The event also featured an evening trip to the Garden of the Gods, a nature area tucked away in the Rocky Mountains and the US Olympic dinner event hosted by Bob Costas of NBC.
