The former Comfort Inn, 3370 E. Battlefield Road, transferred to Clarion Inn & Suites March 1 with the Baymont Inn & Suites, 3776 S. Glenstone Ave.,  slated for a band update on June 1.

Both hotels also are undergoing renovations with completion expected in May.

Gordon Elliott, owner of Elliott Lodging, purchased the Comfort Inn in April 2014 with intent to remodel and reflag as a Clarion Inn & Suites while remaining in the Choice Hotels system.

The remodel of the 55,600-square-foot facility will place emphasis on accommodating and attracting corporate business clients by reducing the room count to 104 and increasing the number of two-room suites with kitchen and dining areas to 16. Other business-minded amenities include two conference rooms with capacities of 75 and 40 to serve clients with meeting space needs, business center, 20-foot vaulted lobby with breakfast center offering a full free breakfast, fitness center, dinner and beverage service in evenings and free high speed internet and WiFi.

Other features include:

  • One Jacuzzi Suite
  • Touch card room locks
  • All new furnishings
  • Outdoor courtyard pool with pool house
  • Adjacent to restaurants and access to U.S. 65
  • Two-room suite dining area

The current Baymont Inn & Suites will transfer to Comfort Inn and be reflagged by joining the Choice Hotels system on June 1.

Gordon Elliott and Sam Hamra have owned the Baymont Inn & Suites since the late 1990s, noting its prime location on Business U.S. 65 near the James River Freeway interchange.

New developments in south Springfield prompted the need to remodel the 45,000-square-foot facility featuring the recent transformation of the exterior architecture of the building from the former pyramid style to an upscale four-story exterior accenting straight lines.

With the restructure of the Comfort Inn hotels business model to attract more corporate business clients, it was decided the Comfort Inn brand would complement the new modern look of the current Baymont Inn & Suites.

Room count and other features include:

  • 106 rooms
  • Six Jacuzzi suites
  • Family suites sleep six
  • Glass indoor pool
  • Free full breakfast
  • Business center
  • Fitness center
  • Free high speed internet and WiFi
  • Rooftop access
  • Access from new intersection on Luster Avenue
  • Adjacent to Outback Steakhouse and IHOP

“We’re happy and impressed to do business with Choice Hotels by repositioning our Choice holdings with Choice Hotels,” Elliott said.
