Up to 10,000 people are expected in Springfield for 2013 Missouri State Cup tournament at the Lake Country Soccer Complex 8 a.m.-6 p.m. June 1-3 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 8-9.

This annual event, hosted by the Missouri Youth Soccer Assoc., showcases the premier youth soccer teams in Missouri. More than 175 of the best U13-U19 boys’ and girls’ teams in the state will compete. It is the first leg of the U.S. Youth National Championship Series, a nationwide tournament series encompassing more than 10,000 teams.

The event at Lake Country Soccer is free and open to spectators. Parking is $5 per day.

Special activities this year include a food drive for Ozarks Food Harvest May 31-June 1. For every three donated nonperishable food items, individuals receive a drawing ticket for a chance to win an autographed Abby Wambach jersey.

A welcome event begins at 6:30 p.m. June 1 at Hammons Field with team introductions and a fireworks display planned.
