Tis’ the season to head to Silver Dollar City for the much loved, An Old Time Christmas festival that runs from November 4th to December 30th. Similar to its predecessors, this festival features a tasting passport brimming with delectable sweet and savory treats. For $35, you can acquire the tasting passport, granting you the opportunity to savor five distinct tasting-sized menu items as you immerse yourself in the festivities throughout the park. Now, let's delve into the five delights I experienced during my visit!
Cashew Chicken Waffle Cone
Enjoy the Springfield famous cashew chicken, but with a bit of a twist! At the Taste of the City Shake just off the square in Silver Dollar City, you can order a cone of bang bang shrimp, or the ever-savory cashew chicken. The waffle cone is generously filled with a blend of green onions and cashews, offering a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors. Whether you prefer a handheld experience biting into the cone or a more refined approach with a fork, you can relish this culinary twist without worrying about messy hands.
Eggnog Shake
Tis’ be the season for all things eggnog! But why settle for just enjoying a glass at home, when you can march into Hannah’s Ice Cream Parlor and enjoy a handmade, eggnog shake. Topped with whipped cream, the shake is super creamy, and rich with classic eggnog flavor.
Pot Roast Loaded Fries
When you have had your fair share of sweets, and need to fulfill those savory cravings, stop by the Lady Liberty Dining Pavilion for an order of the Pot Roast Loaded Fries! Crinkle cut French fries topped with a large helping of savory pot roast, a drizzle of sour cream, and then finished with chopped green onions. It’s a fun and tasty twist on the classic homestyle meal!

Red Velvet Funnel Cake
You absolutely cannot visit Silver Dollar City without ordering at least one funnel cake…. possibly two! For the Christmas season, Fried Fancies and Cakes & Cones both are offering the crimson colored, red velvet funnel cake. Crispy on the outside, yet light and fluffy on the inside, the red velvet funnel cake is dusted with powdered sugar and a dollop of icing. Consider your sweet tooth cured!
Apple Dumpling with Cinnamon Ice Cream
It might be getting colder outside, but that is no reason to keep you away from this pairing. The apple dumpling is a crisp golden brown, buttery, and flaky on the outside. Once you dig in, the apples on the inside are warm, with hints of cinnamon and sugar. But you must enjoy each bite with the cinnamon ice cream that is served on the side, for the perfect pairing! You can find these tasty morsels at one of the Apple Dumpling Stand in the park!
