The History Museum on the Square offers a deep dive into Springfield's past, including its pivotal role in Route 66 history. Their third floor is dedicated to everything on Route 66 and provides an engaging learning experience for all ages.

Route 66 Car Museum

The 20,000-square-foot Route 66 Car Museum is a privately owned car collection located along the historic Route 66. It features 75 cars with everything ranging from sports cars, movie cars, and classics from 1907 to up to 1980.

College Street Cafe

College Street Cafe offers a cozy, classic diner atmosphere perfect for smaller groups looking for an authentic Springfield experience. Known for its friendly service and home-style cooking, it's a local favorite.

Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield

Mix leisure with a touch of history at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. This spot was the first battle fought in the Civil War west of the Mississippi River, making it an incredibly significant historical spot. Gillioz Theatre

The Gillioz Theatre occassionally offers tours, giving a unique glimpse into the past of the beautifully restored 1926 theatre. Visitors can explore the theatre’s stunning architecture, learn about its rich history, and discover behind-the-scenes secrets. The Gillioz Theatre is also located on the Route 66 road, making it a great addition to your trip.

This hands-on military museum features vintage military aircrafts and jeeps, uniforms and equipment, and over 5,000 pieces of military history.

Wonders of Wildlife

The Johnny Morris Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium, attached to Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, is one of Springfield’s top rated attractions and the largest immersive wildlife attraction in the world. With more than 1.5 miles of immersive exhibits and experiences, Wonders of Wildlife is worth taking a swim by.
