Director of Marketing

The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau is hiring a Director of Marketing. Details for this position and how to apply are below. The deadline for resumes is June 19.

Summary: Responsible for overseeing all Marketing Department functions and operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing plan for the Bureau including, but not limited to, annual marketing budget and campaigns targeting all sectors of the travel and tourism industry.
  • Develop cooperative advertising with local attraction partners and the Missouri Division of Tourism, including all required applications and reporting.
  • Coordinate production and distribution of collateral and marketing materials for the Bureau and the Bureau website.
  • Oversee and increase Bureau advertising revenues.
  • Interprets visitor surveys and other research to provide the basis for directing the Bureau’s marketing strategy.
  • Represents Bureau at industry and community events to encourage the regional collaboration of tourism marketing.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability in leadership and management.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of marketing analytics and tools such as Google Suite. 
  • Ability to recall information, set goals and prioritize tasks to maintain workload.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations in a calm, professional manner.
  • Ability to represent the CVB professionally and articulately in public and social settings.
  • Ability to work well within a membership organization and participate in committee decision-making.

Desirable Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in marketing, communication or related field.
  • Five years marketing-related experience.
  • Familiarity with the Springfield area.
  • Experience in a tourism-related organization a plus.
  • Or any combination of education, training and experience that would qualify the individual for the position.

The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau was formed in 1979 as the hospitality arm of the Chamber of Commerce. The Bureau was incorporated independently as a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Missouri in 1989. The CVB is a marketing and service organization which contracts annually with the City of Springfield to promote economic development through travel and tourism.
