Springfield's Musical Road
MUSICAL ROAD OPENING SOON IN SPRINGFIELD, MO
More information about this attraction coming soon.

Designed To Be Experienced
The Musical Road is designed as a drive-through attraction. There are no tickets, no lines, and no set schedule. Simply drive the stretch of St. Louis Street at 30 miles per hour and let the road do the rest. Both drivers and passengers can hear the melody as the vibrations created by the rumble strips interact with the vehicle.
For the best experience, maintaining a steady speed is key. Too fast or too slow, and the melody will change. At just the right pace, the music comes through clearly, creating a moment that is equal parts fun, surprising, and uniquely Springfield.

A Soundtrack for the Mother Road
The selection of “America the Beautiful” is intentional. The song reflects the spirit of the open road, the legacy of Route 66, and the anticipation surrounding America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. In Springfield, known as the Birthplace of Route 66, those themes come together in a way that visitors can experience in real time.
The Musical Road connects past and present, blending the nostalgia of historic travel with modern innovation. It invites travelers to slow down, take notice, and engage with Route 66 in a way that goes beyond sightseeing.
A New Reason to Stop in Springfield
“This project started with a simple goal: we wanted to create a unique new experience for visitors traveling Route 66 in Springfield,” said Mark Hecquet, President and CEO of Visit Springfield. “The Musical Road does exactly that. It gives people something unexpected, memorable and fun, while adding another reason to stop, explore and experience Springfield in a new way.”
The Musical Road joins a limited number of similar installations across the United States, making it a rare and distinctive addition to the Route 66 experience. Its location near Queen’s Gate 66 places it along one of Springfield’s most recognizable travel corridors, creating an easy and engaging stop for visitors exploring the city.

Part of a Bigger Vision
The Musical Road is part of Visit Springfield’s ongoing efforts to enhance the Route 66 experience and create memorable attractions throughout the city. These initiatives are designed to encourage travelers to spend more time in Springfield, discover its history, and create lasting memories along the way.
By adding interactive elements like the Musical Road, Springfield continues to build on its identity as the Birthplace of Route 66 while offering new and engaging ways to experience it.
